PARENTING COUNSELING

Parenting Counseling is a twelve (12) session (minimum) program that explores parenting from a myriad of lens. Here at Edwards Mentoring & Social Services, we meet parents where they are, exploring how they were parented and how such may inform how they parent. We then examine city and state guidelines applicable to child maltreatment in an effort to reconcile parenting practices that may be at odds with Child Maltreatment Guidelines.  We also inform participants regarding Parent-Centered Parenting and Child-Centered Parenting, providing participant concrete distinctions and practical practice measures regarding the two. Understanding how nuanced parenting can be given socioeconomics differences, Edwards Mentoring & Social Services delivery of parenting counseling is most conscientious of cultural competence.
